In this workshop hatha yoga is presented in practices of asana, pranayama, mudra and samadhi, taking the structure of one of the texts emphasised in modern yoga trainings, the Hathayogapradipika or light on Hatha yoga.
The morning will be a two hour yoga class based in the gentle Scaravelli-inspired approach to posture of the body in which we will investigate how breathing practices arise naturally from its design, and the fine tuning of alignment to posture and breath that mudra brings. The morning will round off with a presentation that sheds light on some origins and contextualises the Hathayogapradipika.
In the afternoon, Restorative practice will be the setting for investigation of mudra, bandha, and samadhi as we delve more deeply into the samadhi yoga and other yogas of the compendium that is the fourth chapter of this text. Expect some revelations as we touch on the origins of the subtle body to pull all layers of our practice together.
